Hello Fish Fans, Springtime fishin in Islamorada offers a wide variety of species to catch both inshore and offshore. Inshore theres plenty of Spanish and Cero Mackerel, Spotted Sea Trout, Jacks, Ladyfish and Sharks. The Tarpon fishin is heating up and if this last cool front is the last one of the season you can expect some of the best Tarpon fishin in the world by the end of the month. These Giant Tarpon between 100 and 180 pounds will be swarmin the bridges and passes throughout the Florida Keys in April, May and June. The Giant Tarpon is a warrior and you better be ready for the fight of your life, these fish have alot of heart and theyll fight you right to the end. The offshore fishin is in transition, the Sailfishin is slowin down but if your patient and put in the time youll still catchem. The Islamorada Humps are swarmin with Blackfin Tuna and Skipjack Tuna, most of these fish are 5 to 15 pounds but 20 to 30 pounders are caught on almost a daily basis. The Dolphin fish, also called Mahi-Mahi or Dorado have been showin up since February this year and will be here right through the summer months. April, May and June are my favorite months for Dolphin fishin, its not to hot yet and theres more Big Dolphin movin through. Most of these fish are 5 to 15 pounds but during the next few months well be catchin Dolphin in the 30 to 50 pound class. This is a great time of year for a fishin trip, book 2 or 3 days and mix it up, one day for catchin Giant Tarpon, one day for Dolphin and Tuna, and maybe a third to catch more of your favorite. Give me a call and well catch fish ! Ill be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Islamorada, Sportfishin Capital of the World.
