5-5-05 I go to write a fishing report, and somehow two or three weeks go by. The fishing has just been getting better and better. The tarpon fishing is heating up with lots of big fish being caught more regularly. The permit are spawning, and we're catching some good numbers. A few days ago we fished a half day and caught 14 permit, with the largest one being 46.5 lbs. All have been nice fish, and all have been released healthy. Offshore is picking up with lots of large schooly dolphin, but not many big fish yet. All of that should be changing within the next few weeks. As for fishing in the bay, the cobia bite has still been great. We've had several days with lots of big cobia just chomping at anything you throw at them. Last week we had a great day of 38 cobia released with several others that spit the bait. The largest fish was around 42 lbs. or so. Well, that's about it for now, and I'll keep trying to actually remember to do these every week........Capt. Jeff
