7-29-05 OK, I can't believe it's been since June that I wrote a report! I can't believe how fast time flew this past month! The fishing has been red hot just about everywhere. Offshore has been great this year for dolphin when it comes to the quantity of fish. There have been some big dolphin, with a few billfish thrown in here and there. The quantity of schoolie dolphin has been ungodly at sometimes. You can literally be working a set of schoolies, and look around and see two or three other schools working around you. Fishing in the bay we've had a lot of days where we play upgrade. We'll start out at a spot catching just a little bit of everything. Then we'll keep some of the runners and jacks for bait. Next we head to some other spots that have been holding lots of big goliath groupers and sharks. Then it's time to see who wants to battle a fish that's usually bigger than them. Last week Mark Mankins and his family played upgrade with me. We had a blast, catching everything with some cobia and pompano thrown in. We headed to catch some goliath groupers, and they were biting great! We ended up catching eight, with the biggest one around 110lbs. We had a great day and everyone went home with great stories and pictures. Well, that's about for now, until next time......Capt. Jeff
