| Area guides are starting to report good sightings of schools of tarpon around town . The bite has been getting better every night at the bridges as well . Fly fishermen are getting shots at fish from 50 to 150 lbs . And bait fishermen are scoring with mullet , shrimp ,crabs and pinfish .
Permit have been spawning on and around shallow patch reefs in huge schools . By drifting up to the reef and throwing crabs to these fish , anglers are catching fish up to 30 lbs. Large schools have been seen on area wrecks as well .
In the backcountry trout to 3 lbs. are eating well , plastic grubs in darker colors seem to work best in mullet muds . Redfish are up on the flats in good numbers as well . For big fish sharks have been mixed in with these fish and make for a terrific fight .
As the weather stays on this summer trend fishing will only improve . Spring time in the Keys is not to be missed . Big fish , warm weather , lots of bait . Come on down .
