Mahi-Mahi Everywhere !
November 18 2004
Hello Fish Fans, November 13th was the only day in the last 10 says with light winds and calm seas, the next week is forcast for calm seas and sunny skies, highs around 80 degrees and lows about 70 degres. The Mahi-Mahi are everywhere, we’re catchin them Sailfishin on the reefs edge, and in greater numbers anywhere from about 250 feet of water and beyond, most of these fish are reely nice, between 5 and 10 pounds, one lucky angler caught a 40 pounder this week. The Sailfishin has been a little slower than expected until yesterday, we caught 2 and lost 3, today we only caught 1 due to heavy cloud cover and storms but did catch Mahi-Mahi and a 40 pound Kingfish. The packs of Sailfish are now movin through and you can expect to hook-up at least 2 to 3 Sailfish a day, over the next 90 days, 3 to 5 hook-ups a day will be the average day on the Reel Busy so give us a call and let’s catch Sailfish ! The nice thing about booking the Reel Busy is you’ll never have a trip canceled because the winds blowin to hard to fish, it may be blowin too hard to go offshore, it may be blowin too hard for the back country boats to fish inshore, but the Reel Busy can always take you fishin. On Monday this week we had one of those days, I think we were the only boat on the water, the wind was blowin 25 to 35 mph, my client came here to fish for Sailfish but that wasn’t possible even for the 50 footers. He wanted to fish so we headed out to Sprigger Bank, we caught a bunch of Spanish Makerel 5 to 8 pounds and finished the day cuttin them up for bait catchin Sharks. We caught several Black Tip Sharks and 1 Lemon Shark about 50 pounds that put on a show jumpin out of the water 4 times crashin and bustin up the surface, these Sharks think there Sailfish and love to put on a show. There hasn’t been much current on the Islamorada Humps so the Blackfin Tuna have been reely small, but we’ve been catchin 15 pounders almost every trip while Sailfishin on the reefs edge. I haven’t been fishin for Grouper and Mutton Snapper over the last 10 days but with calmer winds and seas we’ll check it out this week and let you know how we did. Islamorada is the Sportfishin Capital of the World, there’s always somethin to catch in almost any wind condition. I’ll be back with another fishin report from Islamorada in about 10 days, Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049
