You Gotta Love it !
January 11 2005
Hello Fish Fans, Tis a happy new year, since the 1st of January the weather and the Sailfishin has been gettin better and better, low temperatures of 72 degrees with a high of 78. The Sailfishin is red hot with the slow days providing catches of 2 or 3 while losin another 2 or 3, the good days have been producing 4 and 5 with another 2 to 4 jumped off, you gotta love it ! The most spectacular fish to catch in the ocean is got to be the Sailfish, blistering runs combined with tailwalkin, flippin, jumpin and thrashin the surface of the water, sometimes with all 4 lines goin off at the same time, it reely gets crazy. The Sailfishin experience is one that you’ll never fotget, so if your visiting the Florida Keys and Islamorada you owe it to yourself to spend a day with the Reel Busy or your favorite charter boat and get in on the action. This past weekend I had the same guys for a couple of days, the first day they each caught their first Sailfish, we started the second day with an early mornin Sailfish and then headed offshore in search of their first Mahi-Mahi, it was pretty rough but they were up to it so we went, the Gulfstream is about 20 miles out this time of year and in a 6 foot seas your gonna get wet, on the way out we checked out the Islamorada Humps for Blackfin Tuna which is about 15 miles out, the hump was dead, and will be until the Gulfstream current moves further inshore, when there’s no current there’s no Tuna. We did find the edge of the Gulfstream at 22 miles out and caught 7 nice Mahi-Mahi between 5 and 10 pounds. We came back to the edge and caught and released 2 more Sailfish before headin back to the dock, it was a reely great day but I won’t be in any hurry to go back out there in search of Mahi-Mahi until the seas calm down or the Gulfstream moves in closer to Islamorada. April thru June is prime time for Giant Tarpon and Big Dolphin, nows the time to get your dates reserved. This is a great time to book 2 days on the Reel Busy, 1 day catchin Giant Tarpon and 1 day catchin Slammer Dolphin { Mahi-Mahi}, you’ll have a great time. I’ll be back in about 10 days with another fishin report from Islamorada, Sportfishin Capital of the World. Catch You Later, Captain Wayne, Reel Busy Charters 305-304-9049
